Redcliffe Style & FRANKiE4

A few weeks ago, I grabbed my girls, Lola and my new season FRANKiE4 shoes and met my friend Helen, from Rhubarb Photography, on the Scarborough Waterfront. Combining all the things I love! Family, beach and shoes!

Redcliffe Style & FRANKiE4

Today I am sharing my favourite FRANKiE4 shoes for the season and my favourite images of the day.

Tan LAUREN. The perfect flat tan sandal.

And the amazing Gold JENNi. These have been popping up a lot on my Instagram feed.

Thank you FRANKiE4 for the amazing shoes, and thank you Helen for the gorgeous images xx

Weekend Style: FRANKiE4 Gold Runners

I’m definitely a jeans and shirt girl on the weekend. I pretty much wear some version of this outfit, every weekend … all weekend. I’m also one of those people that can wear jeans all Summer and if I’m feeling the heat, I might switch the shirt for a tee or singlet.

Denim 4 eva!

FRANKiE4 Gold Runners

Weekend Style: FRANKiE4 Gold Runners

Because my outfit is usually so simple, I love to add a little personality with Sunnies and shoes. These Gold JENNi runners* from FRANKiE4 have become an absolute favourite. I love the soft gold, it’s fancy but sort of a toned down fancy. But even more I love the comfort. I refuse to wear anything that even gives me a moment of discomfort. I’m too old and grumpy for that shit!

If you are looking for some more tips on how to style your FRANKiE4 footwear, I’m sharing over here.

*Gifted and loved

Daily Style: Mid Week Party

At the moment there seems to be a party, function or get together every second day. Sometimes it’s hard to sort out what to wear, especially if you keep running into the same people at all of these events. Don’t be scared to step away from the flirty frock and strappy heels.

Daily Style: Mid Week Party

Last night I wore this olive and tan sports luxe combination. I absolutely love these colours together. The pants are from Bohemian Trders (on sale), the jacket is Seduce (sold out) and the heels are new season FRANKiE4 MONiCA.

One of the best tips for a long night is to dress in something you are completely comfortable in, you don’t want to be pulling at your dress or top all night, wondering what might be slipping out. And most importantly, wear comfortable shoes. Don’t let your shoes ruin your night. Trust me, I have had many, many nights ruined by gorgeous but ill fitting shoes. Do whatever you need to to find gorgeous and comfortable shoes.

Daily Style: Mid Week Party

I am a huge fan of FRANKiE4 shoes. I have been wearing them for years and they are the epitome of comfort and they are classics you can wear year after year.

These babies are from their new season. MONiCA is the perfect neutral heel and will go with almost every outfit. I have been wearing them to work with dresses, on the weekend with jeans and with pretty frocks for parties.

Daily Style: FRANKiE4 MONiCA in Walnut

*the shoes are gifted by FRANKiE4. I’m thrilled to work with them, wear them and share them. FRANKiE4 know their stuff and create amazing, feet friendly shoes.

What I wore: Melbourne Cup Day

This was my first grown up Melbourne Cup day in years. I loved having a special Melbourne Cup day with my girls and I was going to miss them, but I was also looking forward to enjoying the day in a different way.

What I wore: Melbourne Cup Day

I was working until mid-day and then we were heading to a Melbourne Cup lunch at The Point for a luncheon. My outfit needed to be a hybrid – Office X Melbourne Cup. This was an excellent excuse to buy a new Maiocchi dress. I picked the Cherry Mountain High dress. This is so lovely to wear, it’s simple, feminine, moves beautifully and it’s comfortable. It’s perfect!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I decided to team match the red with natural tones. Tan Ramarim heels, tan Mimco belt and a beige Mimco Fascinator. I was pretty happy how it all came together. It was appropriate for a morning in the office and then Melbourne Cupping with work friends.

My husband laughed when it first saw my fascinator. He thought I was joking and that it was too big! I think he hurt its feelings because after his laughter, it started to deflated … like a sad little flower.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

What an awesome race! I backed Max Dynamite and came second but I’m thrilled Prince of Penzance and Michelle Payne came first.

How was your Melbourne Cup day?

Summer Style: Sirens Swimwear

Summer is just around the corner and I’m looking forward to long, lazy days at the beach, cocktails by the pool or sundowners on the boat.

What I wasn’t looking forward to was shopping for swimwear for these occasions. Trying to navigate the complicated straps and ties, elbows bashing the walls, tucking in wayward boobs with the overhead fluro lighting and the helpful voices coming from the other side while trying to pick the lock open the door to inspect the fit. Aaauugghh!

Summer Style: Sirens Swimwear

Sirens Swimwear came to the rescue with their Ship the Shop set up. You select 5 pieces from their size 8-20 range, pay $199 and they sent the 5 pieces plus a return bag. You try them on in a calm, flattering environment. I think after a bottle of champagne and by candle light works best for me. Keep what you want and then return the rest and pay the difference.

The only problem I see is picking the ones you want to keep. I fell in love with two full pieces swimmer and a skirt. I decided on the Parisian Black stripes and reversible skirt but it’s breaking my heart to send back the Midnight Doves.

And, Sirens Swimwear is giving Redcliffe Style readers free postage until 15 December. Use the code: redcliffestyle

How do you feel about ordering Swimwear online?

Not sponsored but I was gifted an item of swimwear and paid for the rest.

The Long weekend: The wardrobe edition

I wish I could say I went away for the long weekend, but no, I was stuck at home all weekend. Lucky we have beaches all around and the weather was amazing.

The Long weekend: The wardrobe edition

My weekend seemed to start on Thursday night. I left work earlier and was picked up by Lisa (Mrs BC’s House of Chaos) to head down the coast to the Movie World Fright Night opening.

I was actually having nightmares about this night. I might love Zombie shows and movies, but I’m not sure about the other crazies that do. I realised I needed to dress for comfort and speed. If there turned out to be some crazy person taking advantage of the undead masks and litres of fake blood, I need to outrun them.

I was secretly hoping Lisa would be wearing heels and a high vis jacket to make it even easier for me to escape and leave her as bait.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

FRANKiE4 ELLiE shoes and a Skipping Girl Tote. My Skull tote was totally made for this event.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Casual Friday

I survived the Zombie apocalypse and I celebrated it by wearing distressed denim (Bohemian Traders – sold out) to work. I wouldn’t normally wear it but it was half hidden by my long linen shirt (from Jaz & Alex) and dressed up with heels (worn before here).

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Saturday

I had an 8am hair appointment with my one of my favourite bud’s Toni at Beautiful You Hair and Beauty day Spa. I have been needing a hair appointment for ages but this work thing makes it so hard.

I wore a Bohemian Traders shirt and pants as a semi-jumpsuit. This is even better than a jumpsuit because it doesn’t come with toilet anxiety. I added their rope belt because I love it and a pair of nude Mox flats.

How great is this wall at Good Vibes Expresso!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

As usual, I pretty much give Toni free reign on my hair, she knows me, she knows my hair and she knows what I like. This time she wanted to lighten it a little for Summer and created big arse, sexy waves.

Then I took my locks to the Cinema to see The Martian. I’m pretty sure if Matt Damon could see them, he would be impressed.

Sunday

Breakfast at the Redcliffe Markets and then a never ending shopping trip to buy my 11yo her graduation dress.

Wearing a Ruby & Lilli #OOTD tee (currently on sale), Bohemian Traders drop crutch pants and Finery flats from Jaz & Alex (also on sale).

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Monday

Peplum, Pleather and Points for coffee and lunch dates. The top is new season Bohemian Traders, I don’t think I have ever worn a peplum before, so I need to work out how to merge it into my existing wardrobe. I kinda love it with the pleather pants, but I will need to find different bottoms for Summer.

How was your long weekend?

A week in my Wardrobe

We might be a few weeks into gorgeous, colourful Spring, but my wardrobe was very dark and serious this week. Whenever I’m time poor, I always reach for black or navy and slick my hair back into a pony tail or bun. Boring I know!

A week in my Wardrobe

Monday

I wore a gorgeous black, lace sweater from Witchery (worn before here). I love to find black pieces with fun details. This was last season, so it’s probably long gone.

I wore it with a black and rose gold necklace* from Blush and Co (similar one here) and black and nude heels* by Ramarim from Easy Life Shoes. I love the combination of nude and rose gold.

Tuesday

I can’t resist a Shirt dress. This navy one was on the sale rack at Sussan for $59. It could possibly be cheaper even now. Wearing it with a personalised Skipping Girl Tote. I love their totes so much, I’m eyeing off the Cactus version at the moment.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Wednesday

This is exactly the kind of outfit I wore to work everyday in the 90s, except in the 90s I wore it with a set of pearls and a slick, perfect bob. Because it’s 2015, I wore it with fishnets and Ramarim heels instead. My boss commented that it was very ‘Robert Palmer Video’.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I was pretty lazy with my makeup and hair, so bright lippy saved me.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Thursday

This was a black and white day. Another shirt dress/jacket type piece, this one is a gorgeous lace version from Abby Lee Boutique in Redcliffe. Wearing it with the amazingly, comfortable FRANKiE4 LiZ boots.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Now, I didn’t manage to capture the gorgeous jacket on Thursday, the light kept ruining it for me, but I did find an earlier photo that shows off the lovely lace, plus my hair looked great on this day. Even better!

IMG_6191

Finally Friday,

I changed my colour palette! Wearing my soft trench as a dress, with khaki pleather tights and tan Ramarim boots. I love this colour combination … hard.

I had drinks after work, so I even washed and blowdried my hair and applied makeup with a delicate hand. I’m not sure anyone noticed the delicate touch, but it helped me remain lady like for at least 30 minutes.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Saturday

Pretty print and distressed denim. Chilling with my furry girl, wearing a new season Phoebe and Rose shirt, jeans (Bohemian Traders – sold out) and nude Watson x Watson sandals from Jaz & Alex (currently on sale for $199).

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I took the girls to the movies and added this gorgeous, soft cobalt scarf from Everyday Cashmere.

What’s are your outfits like when you’re time poor?

A week in my wardrobe

I have been a real blogging slacker the last few weeks. I’ve miss it … I’ve missed you. I’ve been working longer hours in my full time job … and this sucked up all my time.

But even with my limited time, I have managed to find time online to start building my Spring/Summer wardrobe. Auuggh, so many great pieces to pick from!!

A week in my wardrobe

Sunday

I visited my In-laws in Gympie. There was a new baby and a pack of puppies that all needed some love and attention. I wore this AMAZING Little Tienda Short Las Flores dress. Now I want need a long version too.

I knew I’d be rolling about with kids and dogs, so I threw a pair of pleather tights under it and a pair of Finery flats from Jaz and Alex (currently reduced to $65)

IMG_6554

Yes I have a knob on top of my head, but you can see the amazing embroidery and colours.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Monday

New season Bohemian Traders! The cut of this Luxe Resort skirt is perfection. I love it so much I got it in black too. You will see me wearing them to death.

I wore it with the Classic V-neck top and the Rope Belt. I added last Winter’s Mustard Cashmere cardigan and Lillian Nai Romantic Days Wedges (reduced to $98.45).

IMG_6573

Tuesday

After being such a girl yesterday, I needed a more masculine outfit. This is an old Linen Sussan shirt. I rolled the sleeves high and did the half tuck for that I’m-too-cool-to try vibe. It goes well with the I’m-too-lazy-to-iron look. Similar shirt here.

Wearing Bohemian Traders Drop crotch pants and blue Ramarim heels from Easy Life shoes (worn before here).

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I’m at the Redcliffe duck pond, admiring the ducks … turtles … and eels.

IMG_6596

Wednesday

I wore my DFO bargain dress from Witchery. This was a crazy $49! You can see a full image here.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This time I stopped by the Scarborough waterfront to suck up all the gorgeousness and have a quiet coffee before another busy day in the office.

IMG_6602

Thursday

Winter came back again!! So I could wear my stunning, colourful Winter Maiocchi frock one more time. I rarely wear dresses but when I do I think I should do it more often. Just throw it on, no need to mix and match. This one is sold out but there is another version on sale here.

I added fishnets to sexy it up and another great pair of Ramarim heels.

Friday

Casual Friday! The aircon was switched to Arctic yesterday, so I wanted to be warm. What could be better than a blanket? A blanket wrap!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Wearing it with NYDJ Jeans (because I’m that old and need to tuck in my mum tum) and my awesome FRANKiE4 LiZ boots in camel.

How is your Spring/Summer wardrobe hunting going?

Building a Spring Wardrobe at DFO Brisbane

To be honest, there is not much I love as much as discovering a gorgeous item of clothing for an amazing price. It’s like winning the lottery except it makes me feel clever and cute and like I deserve a glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc to celebrate.

Over the years I’ve become excellent at working my wardrobe budget, hunting for quality, bargains pieces that deserve a place in my wardrobe. It started when I was 14 years old and trying to stretch my dismal wage from my part-time job at Chicken World and it got even better was I was 17, living out of home trying to build up an office wardrobe so I could get taken seriously.

Now I want to built up my Spring wardrobe and all my skills are coming in handy.

Building a SpringWardrobe

Last weekend I hit DFO Brisbane to find some pieces to start building up my Spring wardrobe. The rules I set myself:

  1. Stick with my colour scheme. I was looking for nude, white, khaki, tan and denim. I know I’m predictable, but I also know what I like I and I can always play with other colours and prints once I have the basics down;
  2. They must fit well and the must fit me today. I forbid shopping for my dream body or buying pieces I have to alter dramatically to fit.
  3. Ask myself – “If I saw it full price, would I still love it and want to buy it”;
  4. Don’t be talked into anything by a sales person or a friend … unless it’s your daughters – because they can be brutally honest and if they say you look hot, then you look freakin’ hot; and
  5. Be inspired by you. Be true to you and your style and don’t try to be anyone else. The times I have bought something that’s not completely me, I have discovered that I don’t wear it or if I do, I don’t get good cost per wear.

So on a tight little budget, what did I buy?

I hit Witchery and then I hit it again. I bought this AMAZING khaki dress jumpsuit for a teeny $39 and teamed it with sexy-arse Wittner shoes reduced from $199 to $49. A complete outfit for $88.

A nude tee, I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR ONE FOR AGES! I picked an extra large because I wanted it oversized. This was $25 (originally $39). The jeans were an earlier bargain from G-Star.

I did find a bucket load of other pieces, but to show you would just be rubbing it in your face. Ideally, I want to rub it in your face s..l..o..w..l..y..

Dumping the Tripod

This morning I am dumping the tripod and going old school. I picked up my camera and told my 9yo to rug up. We went for an early morning walk to take some snaps. My little photographer followed me around snapping away as we darted across streets, stood in strangers yards and tried to act normal when we were caught out.

Dumping the Tripod

When cars drove passed we would pretend we were doing something else, like taking photos of flowers or the sunrise any but taking photos of a middle aged woman posing in double denim.

At least it was early and cold enough that most people were still snuggly in bed.

My girl was even giving me directions, I could be creating and artistic monster but I could also be creating some fun memories. Sure the memories might be being forced to stand outside in freezing temperatures to get a photo of an egotistical mother.

Office Wear: The First week of Winter

Winter hit and it hit hard and fast. I realise Brisbane Winters are pretty tame but you have to understand …. we are complete wimps when the temperature dips below 22.  We are confused that the usual warm sun has turned on us. So we are cold and confused!

My girls don’t even know what to put on their feet instead of thongs. So they just walk around scratching their heads and wondering why they can’t feel their toes anymore. It’s rough!

Office Wear: The First week of Winter

I’m just glad I started getting my Winter wardrobe ready early this year.

Monday
I love a great dress. No need to think about anything, just pull it over your head and your done. This stunning One More Sleep dress is from Maiocchi ($245). It’s so beautiful to wear.

Tuesday
Pleather and cashmere. This skirt is amazing in real life. I wish I could capture it properly. I found this one at Jaz & Alex and it’s currently on sale for $204. Wearing it with a Bamboo/Cashmere knit from Bamboo Body and adding colour and warmth with a stunning wrap from Everyday Cashmere.

Fursday
I pulled this vest off my charity pile and I think I should have left it there. I was warm but I was not loving the outfit. As the day went on I disliked it more and more. But, we all make mistakes. Wearing a big fluffy, red vest that makes it look like I slaughtered Elmo is one of them.

Friday
I LOVE casual Fridays and I LOVE this knit. It’s so beautiful and snuggly. This was another beauty from Jaz & Alex and it’s currently on sale! They have so many great and unusual pieces. You must check them out!!

How have you been dealing with the cold weather?

A week of Office Wear

I know my interpretation of Office wear won’t suit all offices. Sometimes I think it barely suits mine, but what the heck, it’s too much fun to play with clothes and different outfit combinations. I do tend to wear the same pieces over and over but I try to wear them in a way I haven’t worn before. I’ll probably run out of options eventually :)

A Week of Office Wear

Monday
You may have already seen this Bamboo Body outfit. I love how comfortable it is and the slimming affect of the long line cardigan. If I have a whole wardrobe of these, I’ll never need to run again!

Tuesday
I didn’t take a Tuesday photo, I must have been nude. Instead I’m sharing an outfit from last week. I LOVE this Charlie Plaid outfit from Bohemian Traders. I know this a little over-the-top but I felt like the love child of Austen Powers and Gwen Steffani. ‘Do I made you horny baby?

Friday!
I do love casual Friday, it’s the day I get to be me but without the distressed denim. I love this colour combination. The soft wrap shirt is from Bohemian Traders. They have nailed their A/W15 pieces. And this amazing cape/throw/poncho/coat/whatever is from Sabena. Serious gorgeous, especially with the FRANKiE4 LiZ boots in camel.

Topped off with this stunning wood watch from JORD. I love the rose gold and maple combo … I love it hard.

What a week! I feel like I have been going a million miles an hour and forgetting to breathe. I look forward to just sitting still for a moment.

How was your week?

Blanket Jackets, Ponchos or Serapes

Call ’em what you want. These babies are awesomely comfortable and will be a favourite piece in Winter. They add a cool, comfortable feeling to an outfit. And they hide everything!

Blanket Jackets, Ponchos or Serapes

I’ve seen quite a few around but I was looking for a longer one with tassels. You must have tassels. Tassels are like the chocolate topping of the clothing world.

On the weekend I wore mine Frankie & Co poncho to the Cinema (watched Pitch Perfect too, if you’re curious). UUUmm, perfect cinema piece. It was like sitting on the lounge wrapped in a blanket, in public! DSC_0048 DSC_0050 DSC_0064 (1) Also wearing pull on pants & tee from Frankie & Co and shoes from FRANKiE4. It was a day only wearing things with the name Frankie. I wish I could say I only ate frankfurters but that would be a lie.

If you are looking for the same one one check out Frankie & Co, theirs is gorgeously oversized or here are a few other ones I found.
