What I wore: Beach Wedding Wear

I had a wedding on the weekend and this was a tough occasion to work out what to wear. Beach wedding wear should be easy. Why did I struggle?

  • It was a beach wedding at 11am
  • Followed with a picnic
  • (racing off to watch my 12yo at netball at 12.30pm)
  • A reception starting at 3pm at a very nice venue
  • Sitting for dinner
  • Followed by 80s dancing

This screams at least 3 outfit or shoe changes for me, but I decided to stick with one, but only because I was so lazy busy.

What I wore: Beach Wedding Wear

Funnily enough, the reception was across the road from my usual #carparkchic spot. So no gorgeous beachy, boho shots from me. It’s still all grungy, smelly carparks for me.

This stunning dress is Spell & the Gypsy Collective from Revolve. This dress is so lovely and subtly sexy, I’d have a wardrobe full if I could wear them to work. I think this dress was more stunning in person and moves so beautifully.

I wore tan accessories to make it more casual for the beach, picnic and netball but the heels dressed it up enough for a nice dinner & dancing.

Office Style: A week in my wardrobe

I’m trailing a new morning routine to give myself more time in the morning, previously I was waking up early for a run, then trying to get myself and the girls ready while I was still trying to cool down. This meant my makeup was running down my face as soon as I applied it and my hair was always knotted back because I was too hot to blow dry.

Now I’m exercising after the girls go to bed, which isn’t awesome but it does mean that my mornings can include a makeup routine that says put and time for my hair. My hair hasn’t has this much attention in months!

Office Style: A week in my wardrobe

Monday

I’ve just discovered the gorgeous Brisbane label, Living Silk. They have been known for their classic formal wear but they are now branching out into office wear.

I’m wearing an amazing Black and Gold Striped/Ribbon top. I don’t often wear fitted up the top and down the bottom but my girls insisted that I had to. This top is amazingly flattering and I wore it with a fitted black Zippy Midi skirt from Bohemian traders and Ramarim heels.

Tuesday

More stripes and another Living silk top. I guess I would call this neckline a wide-square-boatneck and it’s stunning! It’s amazing how sexy a little bit of skin can be. This skirt was a bargain from Cue last season and the shoes were from the recent Nine West sales.

Thursday
You know you spend way too much time with someone when you wear the same outfits. Today I rocked up to work in a Chambray shirt, black pants, strappy heels and mirrored sunnies. Shortly after, my assistant turned up in an identical outfit. I’d love to say it was like looking in a mirror, but she is younger, cuter, thinner, shorter, etc. etc.
I’m going to have to stop passing clothes onto her!

Casual Friday

I love this blush cami. It’s the perfect colour, length and cut. Bohemian Traders has black and white ones too, I’m fairly certain I’ll be adding them both to my wardrobe sometime soon.

Wearing the cami with Jeans (Biker Jeggins) from Rockmans and a knit from Bamboo Body.

I’m looking forward to a short week this week. I hope you have a lovely one too xx

A week in my wardrobe

I’m going to pretend for 5 minutes I haven’t been the slackest blogger ever. I seem to dropping more balls than I’m keeping up in the air. I do seem to spend a bit of time on Instagram but I’ve been neglecting my special, loved part of the web and I do love my little part.

So I’m starting back with …

A week in my wardrobe

Monday

On the spur of the moment I bought a pair of gold ankle boots in the recent Nine West online sale. I immediately regretted the purchase. It could have been made when I was feeling emotional, tired and after a stiff Vodka n’ Soda. I’ve become determined to achieve great cost-per wear from them to prove it wasn’t a mistake. So far, I worn them twice, so they are down to about $27 per wear. I must admit they are growing on me.

This time I wore them with a gold/khaki shiny shirt from Cue (sold out) and a Classic White Button down shirt from Bohemian Traders.

Tuesday

I seem to drag this black ruched skirt out a lot. This was a hand-me-down from my gorgeous buddy Kimba from Kimbalikes. On this day I wore it with a Just Jeans Chambray shirt and black laced up Ramarim heels.

Wednesday

Giving my new gorgeous, white silk, wrap shirt from Living Silk its first outing. I have a ridiculous obsession with white shirts and have been looking for something crisp to add to my collection. Love!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Thursday

I really want to wear this amazing embroidered Bohemian Traders jacket (the black version is still on sale). It’s gorgeous and stretchy velvet, which means it’s like wearing a velour tracksuit. Could it be any better!!

I decided to go completely Bohemian Traders with the cream resort skirt and blush cami, these are both on sale ATM.

And at last the perfect outfit for these tan and peach Ramarim heels.

Casual Friday

I live for the days I can wear jeans into the office. Once again breaking out a few of my favourites – Ramarim and BT with a Noosa Amsterdam tote from T-Leaf (currently on sale for $275).

The Weekend!!

This included a morning of hair pampering at Beautiful You in Margate, movies previews, food, swimming and family.

How was your week?

A week in my wardrobe

For a short week, it seemed really freakin’ long. I think it was the combination of the school returning and the confusion of the mid week break. Either that or I’m just lazy and easily confused.

A week in my wardrobe

Monday

I started off strong with an amazing white dress discovered on the bargain Cue rack in Myer. This just makes me want more white dresses. I did receive one remark that it looked like I was ‘about to play tennis’. Yes, I get that it’s a little costumy and maybe the bouncing pony tail didn’t help, but at least I refrained from white sneakers.

I managed to make it through the day without covering my self with stains.

The dress only needed a pair of heels and it was good to go. These were also a bargain, but Wittner from DFO Brisbane.

Australia Day

No plans except for a run. I decided I needed to run 10km before I was allowed to start any Australia Day celebration. I did it! Lola looks like for was eager to go, but she is a little furry anchor. 3 km is her limit.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Wednesday

Another frock. This one is from Leona Edminston. She is always great for low maintenance, comfortable dresses.

Thursday

I love Chambray shirts. I must own about 6 and I wear them to death. This one was picked up in the recent Just Jean sale. I think it was about $25. It’s already achieved excellent cost-per-wear.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I also fitted in a quick trip to Beautiful You to get my colour refreshed.

Friday

This was probably my favourite outfit of the week, my makeup was great and my hair was soft and wavy. It all worked perfectly. Excepted I left my camera at home and there is no evidence of this awesomeness.

I hope you had a wonderfully week and, if you have kids, that they enjoyed their new classes and teachers xx

Redcliffe Style & FRANKiE4

A few weeks ago, I grabbed my girls, Lola and my new season FRANKiE4 shoes and met my friend Helen, from Rhubarb Photography, on the Scarborough Waterfront. Combining all the things I love! Family, beach and shoes!

Daily Style: Mid Week Party

At the moment there seems to be a party, function or get together every second day. Sometimes it’s hard to sort out what to wear, especially if you keep running into the same people at all of these events. Don’t be scared to step away from the flirty frock and strappy heels.

Daily Style: Mid Week Party

Last night I wore this olive and tan sports luxe combination. I absolutely love these colours together. The pants are from Bohemian Trders (on sale), the jacket is Seduce (sold out) and the heels are new season FRANKiE4 MONiCA.

One of the best tips for a long night is to dress in something you are completely comfortable in, you don’t want to be pulling at your dress or top all night, wondering what might be slipping out. And most importantly, wear comfortable shoes. Don’t let your shoes ruin your night. Trust me, I have had many, many nights ruined by gorgeous but ill fitting shoes. Do whatever you need to to find gorgeous and comfortable shoes.

Daily Style: Mid Week Party

I am a huge fan of FRANKiE4 shoes. I have been wearing them for years and they are the epitome of comfort and they are classics you can wear year after year.

These babies are from their new season. MONiCA is the perfect neutral heel and will go with almost every outfit. I have been wearing them to work with dresses, on the weekend with jeans and with pretty frocks for parties.

*the shoes are gifted by FRANKiE4. I’m thrilled to work with them, wear them and share them. FRANKiE4 know their stuff and create amazing, feet friendly shoes.

Bargain Shopping: Mix Apparel White Linen Shirt

I can not resist a bargain. When I was grocery shopping in Coles yesterday, I stumbled upon this White Linen Shirt. I have been looking for a white linen shirt for Summer. I have been lusting after a more expensive brand but I am on a tight budget and had been holding strong.

I know the more expensive one was made with a gorgeous Linen but this is amazing for right now.

Bargain Shopping: Mix Apparel White Linen Shirt

This Mix Apparel White Linen shirt was only $29 (Sizes 6 – 18) and also comes in mauve.

Today I’m wearing it with my gorgeous Bohemian Traders Linen pants – Yes, I’m head to toe linen today, my cheapo tan Bali market belt, blue Lillian Nai Sundance boots (sizes 35- 43.5) and a tan Som & Tooby clutch (with an added dingle dangle).

Daily Style: Wearing stripes and floral

I have had some meetings today. I didn’t want to look uptight but I also didn’t want to look like a street kid. So, my ripped boyfriend jeans were out… and so were my ripped skinnies…and ripped cargos.

Daily Style: Wearing stripes and floral

I decided on this gorgeous Maiocchi Kiss and Tell frock. In my L’Oréal post yesterday, I showed you how I dressed this dress up for a night time event. Today, I’m wearing it with tan to make it more daytime. These tan wedges are from Lillian Nai….everyone needs a pair of tan wedges for Spring and Summer. They go with everything and make your legs appear longer. They are surprisingly comfortable and easy to walk in.

The belt was discovered in a street stall in Bali on the weekend. The owner told me it took 3 men/2 days or 2 men/3 days to make. The story changed a few times, but I’m sure it was all true. Anywoo, he convinced me it was so good that I didn’t need to negotiate. I’m terrible at negotiating.

What to wear when Travelling

I have a little bit of travelling coming up and I thought I’d share my perfect travel outfit when going on long drives or flights.

Imagine Kim Kardashian and then rule out anything you have every seen her wear. No spanks, no heels, no breath restricting outfits and little or no makeup.

What to wear when Travelling

  1. Stretchy jeans, pants or leggings. I love jeans and find them super comfortable but if you find them uncomfortable, go for a pair of pants or leggings
  2. Comfortable tee shirt or shirt. I prefer a tee shirt because they don’t crease
  3. A comfortable wrap top. I avoid anything with sequins, buttons, zips or hooks. Not only do they feel uncomfortable, things catch on them
  4. A scarf that can double as a blanket. Airplanes are cold and you might not be lucky enough to score a dirty blanket. You will pat yourself on the back when you wrap your snuggly scarf around yourself
  5. Shoes you can kick off. You don’t want to be stuck wearing uncomfortable shoes because you can’t get them off. I love boots because I can wear warm socks under them. My feet don’t smell and won’t gas the people in smelling distance
  6. Socks. To make sock puppets to relive boredom. No, these are to keep your feet warm

What to wear when Travelling

This is my perfect travelling outfit!

Just Jeans jeans (Found at DFO for a ridiculous $29) | Everyday Cashmere Pillar Wrap in Charcoal (gifted)  | JAG Striped Tee (on sale) | Everyday Cashmere Supersoft Scarf in Cobalt (gifted) | Grey studded boots (brand unknown) | Paklite Jet-Lite  medium sized in Gold Dust (gifted)

What to wear to PBEvent14

Lots of people are asking me what to wear to PBEvent14 and what I am wearing.

Last year I had a beautiful wardrobe that I agonised over and took months to put together. It was great and I felt good but I didn’t feel like me. I am pretty casual and, because I share my wardrobe pictures daily, people know that about me.

What to wear to PBEvent14 – Day time

So my advice:

  • First impressions count. Dress like you….but the shiny, happy, bestest version of you. Pretend you are about to go out to long lunch with your best friends. What would you wear?
  • Wear clothes you know and that make you feel awesome
  • People have probably been following you on various social media platforms for a while and kinda know what to expect. If you are dressed like Duchess Kate or Kim Karadashian they might not recognise you
  • You are going to be wearing these clothes for a long time, you need to be comfortable. Don’t try to break in shoes or experiment with a new g-string when you are a full brief girl

What am I going to wear?

It’s going to something like this. I haven’t picked it out yet but it will be layered, casual and probably with an awesome pair of heels. I was super cold last year and will be better prepared this year. They have probably fixed the chilly aircon and be the girl sitting in the corner, in a puddle of sweat with frizzy hair.

What to wear to PBEvent14 – Night time function

  • For the Friday night party. Kick it up a notch and dress up a bit. Its theme is ‘Ahoy’, if you are comfortable in complete costume, then go crazy but if you aren’t, then go for a little ‘nautical nod’.
  • The bar is upmarket, casual. I’ll keep this in mind when picking my outfit. I would not normally wear head-to-toe sequins to a casual bar, but hey, if you love them and they are blue and white, go nuts.

What am I going to wear?

This is another one I haven’t quite sorted. I would love to look like one of the amazing nautically inspired ladies on Pinterest but that requires ironing, a steady hand and avoiding anything with alcohol or grease.

I did buy this dress from Bohemian Traders, with the intention of wearing it for the Friday party. Don’t think I will be able to resist wearing it until then, so now I really don’t know. I do know that I will not be in costume but I do hope to have a little nautical feel to my outfit.

I will be using all these products, all weekend to ensure my makeup doesn’t move.

Have you started sorting your wardrobe yet?

Daily Style: A little Boho

I do love a little Boho.

It’s perfect for the busy mum. It’s comfortable, you can wear your biggest undies and no one will know. The fabrics breathe, so you don’t get too hot running around and you can toss them in the washing machine. We don’t have time for high maintenance clothes that require dry cleaning runs.

Daily Style: A little Boho

I’m wearing a Bohemian Traders Sunset blouse (worn before here), Just Jeans Boyfriend Jeans (worn here), See by Chloe boots from Kimba Likes Boutique  (worn here)and a Cobalt Everyday Cashmere scarf. Cobalt is one of my colours for Spring/Summer, so I will be wearing this scarf to death. Plus, it’s so soft it’s like a mother’s hug. Not my mother’s but certainly someone’s mother.

I think my jeans have maybe passed the point of acceptable for a 40+ woman and ripped jeans. What do you think? A little muttony?

The Everyday Cashmere scarf was gifted for editorial consideration. I considered it for 1 millisecond before I decided I freaking loved it and it was never leaving my neck.

Style it Project: Clashing prints and double denim

Today I’m rushing around all day and then getting pretty at night for the Unlock You Style Book launch with Nikki Parkinson from Styling You. I’m wearing Clashing prints and double denim. This could be risky!

Style it Project: Clashing prints and double denim

My rushing around outfit includes the August Style it Project piece. The awesome Mix Apparel Skinny Camo Cargo pants. These are super comfortable and super cheap.

I’m wearing them with Bohemian Trader Chambray shirt, White Bonds tee, French connection denim vest, Leopard print scarf (gift from BIL) and See by Chloe boots from Kimba Likes Boutique.

The Leopard print scarf was added to bring some brown tones to the top half of the outfit.

Clashing prints and double denim

So I didn’t iron my shirt. I think it makes me look like I have been working hard on the farm.

Daily Style: Dressing for comfort

My muscles are sore today. I had a Tae Kwon Do class on Tuesday night that included way too many squat jumps. I have been walking down the stairs like an old, slow, Sumo wrestler. Lucky I have two mini Sumo wrestlers complaining with me.

When I dropped the girls off at school, they groaned as they slid out of the car and did a stiff legged walk to class. I refused to hop out for the good bye kiss today. Too much movement.

I needed the most comfortable clothes I could find today. I had a coffee after school drop off, so it needed the clothes to be a publicly acceptable level of comfort.

Daily Style: Dressing for comfort

This outfit is all Bohemian Traders and ALL these pieces are on sale at the moment. This is the time to stock up.

I’m wearing:
Slouchy Everyday Dress in grey (M) $49 originally $89
Long Sleeved Khaki & Cream Tee (M) $39 originally $69
Skyscape Chambray Shirt (M) $89 originally $109

On my feet I’m wearing Kadee Snake skin Crocs $44.99.

You’ve probably noticed that I’m really into Crocs at the moment. When asking people styling questions, I ask what they would never wear and people kept mentioning Crocs. This set me on a mission. I think Crocs have had a bum rap and I love them for comfort and convenience. I live near the beach and they can get wet, sandy, muddy and you just hose them off.

Go the Crocs!

Daily Style: A little bit Nina Proudman

It took me a LOOONG time to get into Offspring. I think it was because everyone was watching it, I just didn’t want to. It’s my rebellious side.

I did end up watching it, I did fall in love with Nina Proudman’s outfits and I’m blaming this on Styling You and her Nina Proudman posts. If you love Offspring you must follow these posts for excellent Nina dressing tips.

Daily Style: A little bit Nina Proudman

Today I pulled out an insanely, gorgeous lace Shona Joy top I bought at the Diva Wardrobe recently. I think this was a steal for $50. This will get such a workout in Spring and Summer.

What makes this outfit Nina like?

  • lace top
  • contrasting scarf
  • fitted blue jeans
  • large tan bag
  • boots
  • frizzy, messy mum hair
  • Overuse of facial expressions

“Patrick, is that your ghost feeling me up?”
