Fun Family Activities Redcliffe

I love hanging with my family and doing fun activities but I’m not going to lie, I do not enjoy ‘kids’ activities at all. I’ve never been the sort of mum that rolls on the ground and plays with toys. So, when I am looking for fun family activities, they have to be fun for everyone and not just to keep the kids entertained.

It’s not as hard as you think to find things that the whole family can do together, but here are a few excellent activities that you can all enjoy.

10 Fun Family Activities Redcliffe

Bike riding

We have the most beautiful waterfront with excellent bike paths. It’s great for the littlies because the paths are mostly flat, but good for the bigger people too because we have over 15km to peddle on. If you don’t have a bike, there are a few places on the Peninsula that hires them out

Yoga

On Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday mornings Paige takes an early morning class on the Scarborough beach. I love stretching out and enjoying the view. $10 per adult (kids free with adults). The kids are welcome to participate and then if they get restless, they can hit the beach and play in the sand. For more details contact Paige from Yoga Emporium on 0420 764 523

Bootcamp

Sunday mornings at 6.30am. Dimitri takes an awesome bootcamp for all ages. It’s only $5 per head and is so much fun you (almost) forget you are working out. For more details contact Dimitri from Trainers on the Bay  0420 764 523

BBQ & Swim

Either along the waterfront at one of the many covered BBQ areas or if you don’t like swimming in the ocean, check out Settlement Cove Lagoon. It’s a large swimming area with a kiddies pool, kids park and BBQs. But, get in early because it’s really popular.

Water Fun

This is at Scarborough beach on Saturday and Sunday from 6am – 3pm. You pay $75 for a family package. This is for 2 hours and includes Kayaks, pedal boats, standup paddle boards and life jackets. Contact Floatin’ Fun for more details 0447 136 647

Sailing

You can learn to sail as a family. I’m dying to do this one, but the minimum age is 13. We’ll have to wait a few years but then it’s on like Donkey Kong. You can check out the introduction to sailing course here

Hit the Markets or Festivals

The Redcliffe Jetty Markets on Sunday are getting bigger and better all the time. We love it for the music, people watching and fresh vegetables and the Handmade Redcliffe Market is full of the most beautiful products. We also have lots of Festivals during the year. My favourite is ‘What’s Cooking in the Gardens‘ because of all the food, cooking shows and shady areas.

Bowling

I love bowling! It’s like a nightclub with a little competition thrown in. I love the loud music, the colourful lights, the hot chips and sometimes even a cold beer. Plus, it brings out my competitiveness. Lucky the whole family is the same and it’s nearly a fight to the death. You check out AMF Redcliffe here

Kite Flying

There are so many Kite enthusiasts heading to the Peninsula on the weekends. They usually hang out at Pelican Park. There is even a Redcliffe Kite Club if you really want to get into it.

The Dog Park

Kroll Gardens Off-leash park is the biggest & best dog park I have ever seen. It has lovely paths, beautiful trees, dog obstacle courses and loads of friendly dogs. Your dog will love you a little more after this.

Tae Kwon Do

My personal favourite. We do this as a family twice a week in Scarborough. You can see all the clubs and details here

What I am looking for now is a family dance class, maybe Hip Hop? If you know of one I’d love to hear about it.
